The PMNRF is audited by an independent auditor outside the Government.
M/S Thakur Vaidyanath Aiyar & Company, Chartered
Accountants are the auditors.

There
is no statutory period prescribed for audit of the PMNRF
under Income Tax Act.
Generally, efforts are made to complete the audit
before the end of the next financial year.
However, in the aftermath of a major calamity of
the magnitude of Tsunami, it takes more time due to
large number of transactions. Accounts
upto the year 2007-2008 have been audited. Presently, audit of the year
2008-2009 is in
progress and is likely to be completed shortly.

In
general, funds are either disbursed immediately or they
are committed for specific purposes.
The balance is suitably deployed to ensure long
term sustainability. PMNRF funds are invested with banks

unforeseen occurrences, with a reserve for emergencies.

additional to this, the PMNRF provides financial
assistance for treatment for major diseases at
Government/PMNRF empanelled hospitals.

The

Contributions
particularly from the PSUs/Companies towards the PMNRF

concerned Ministry. Formal Receipt for the contribution
is issued in the name of donor and dispatched to the
sender for onward transmission to the donor. PMNRF is
involved only from the point of receipt of contribution,
and it is upto the donor organization to ensure that
collections are sent to PMNRF.

In accordance with the Prime Minister’s announcement, an amount of
Rs.50.00 lakh each was placed at the disposal of the
District Collectors of the 31 suicide affected districts
of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
The District Collectors were directed to utilize
the funds for giving assistance to needy debt-stressed
farmers and their families, especially relating to
health and education especially of their children.

the basis of relief measures announced by the Prime
Minster to mitigate the hardships being faced by the
families of the farmers who committed suicides, an
amount of Rs.50 lakh each was placed at the disposal of
the 31 affected districts of Maharashtra, Karnataka,
Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Before, placing funds at the
disposal of the concerned district collectors, all
district collectors were requested to open a special
account and thereafter on receipt of requisite
information from the concerned district collectors,
funds were placed at their disposal for disbursal to the
affected families to take care of education & health
related requirements.
District Collectors have been operating the
account and disbursing funds at their level.
