Relief to the families of Farmers who committed Suicides in the year 2006

The Prime Minister has announced that an amount of Rs.50.00 lakh each to be placed at the disposal of the District Collectors of the 31 suicide affected districts.  These districts belong to Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.  The District Collectors would utilise the fund for  assistance to needy debt-stressed farmers and their families, especially relating to health and education especially of their children.  The total involvement of the funds in the scheme is Rs.15.50 crore.  Funds have been released to the concerned Collectors.
